Daryl C. Thompson was born in St. Croix, United States Virgin Islands on the 25th of November 1984. He moved to the island of Tortola in the British Virgin Islands shortly after his birth and lived there until he was six years old.

In 1991 he moved to the island of Anguilla. He seriously began drawing when he first entered high school in 1998; he had his first exhibition of his artwork at Spencer Cameron Gallery on Basseterre, St.Kitts as part of their Independence weekend celebrations. During this year he also entered the Anguilla International Arts festival Competition Junior Division. His entry was later used on a local three-dollar stamp. In 1999 he won the Anguilla Financial Services Association and Anguilla Offshore Financial Services Department " ACORN" logo competition. He placed second in the Art competition held as part of the first Anguilla Beautification Flower Show, he painted a Yellow Allamanda.

 

 

During the 2000 he was one of the five winners in the second Anguilla International Arts Festival Junior Division and he placed second in the National Bank of Anguilla 15th anniversary Art Competition.

In 2001 Daryl exhibited four of his watercolour pieces at Driftwood Haven along with some other local artists. He also exhibited his work at Devonish Art gallery in Anguilla. During 2001 Daryl passed nine CXC subjects with a Grade One in Visual Arts. In December of 2002 Daryl exhibited at Spencer Cameron Art Gallery in St.Kitts during their carnival celebrations.

In 2003 he exhibited at Devonish Art Gallery and Rendezvous Bay Hotel Art Gallery in Anguilla.

Daryl is a graduate from Hartwick College, where he achieved his undergraduate degree, a Bachelor of Arts in Art, concentrating in Painting and Digital Art and Design. He graduated, with departmental distinction in Art, a Minor Degree in Business Management and as a member of the 2006 Spring Semester Dean’s List. Daryl was also honoured as a USCT Freedom Journey Player and was on of the winners of the “Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges” for Hartwick College. Daryl is Currently working as a freelance Graphic Designer and Painter.

 

He as an Assistant Tennis Professional with the Anguilla Tennis Academy and he is the Store Supervisor and Graphic Designer at Alloyds Enterprises Limited, in Anguilla. Daryl is currently working on achieving an Undergraduate Certificate in Digital Publishing from Savannah College of Art and Design.
